  • Service ended: 1 April 2025
  • Maidstone Council will withdraw all commercial waste collections in 2025
  • Affected areas include Maidstone town centre, Bearsted, Tovil, and Allington

Why Are Councils Withdrawing These Services?

There are three key reasons councils across the UK are stepping away from commercial waste services:

1. They’re not legally required to offer these services

Business waste is a non-statutory service; councils aren’t obligated to provide it.

2. New government regulations

The Simpler Recycling legislation was introduced on the 31st of March 2025, meaning more complex waste separation, increasing operational costs.

3. Budget pressures

With stretched local authority budgets, commercial waste collections are no longer financially sustainable in many areas.

What Should Your Business Do Next?

If your local council is ending their service, you’ll need to:

  • Find a licensed commercial waste provider
  • Choose the right bin sizes and collection frequency
  • Ensure your service is compliant with the current waste regulations
  • Avoid disruption by switching well ahead of the deadlines

We’ve already helped businesses across the UK switch from council services, quickly and affordably. Whether you’re a high-street shop, a café, a warehouse, or an office, we’ve got a solution for you.
