Dudley Council Ends Commercial Waste Collections

Dudley Businesses, are you ready for the change?

As of 31 March 2025, Dudley Council will officially stop collecting commercial waste. That means if your business is currently using the council for your bins, you’ll need to make new arrangements, and fast.

At GWR Waste Management, we’re here to take the stress out of switching. We offer easy, affordable business waste collections across the West Midlands with reliable service, flexible bin options, and no surprise fees.

Why is Dudley Council Stopping Commercial Bin Collections?

It’s part of a wider shift happening across the UK. Councils are scaling back on business waste services due to:

  • The new Simpler Recycling government regulations require more recycling and waste separation
  • Rising operational costs that make services harder to fund
  • And because councils aren’t legally required to offer business waste collection at all

This means local businesses will need to find a private waste contractor, one that’s fully licensed and compliant.

When Will the Dudley Council Stop Collection Business Waste?

Dudley Council’s last day of commercial waste collections will be 31 March 2025. From April onwards, all businesses will need to use a private provider.

This applies to:

  • General business waste
  • Dry Mixed recycling (DMR)
  • Food and glass waste

If your business hasn’t made a plan by then, it could face interruptions and be left without a legal way to dispose of its waste.

Which Areas Are Affected by the Change?

If you're based anywhere within the Dudley Metropolitan Borough area, your business is likely to be affected. That includes:

  • Dudley town centre
  • Stourbridge
  • Netherton
  • Kingswinford
  • Brierley Hill
  • Halesowen
  • Coseley
  • Gornal
  • Sedgley
  • Quarry Bank

We’re already supporting businesses across these areas, from independent cafés to barbers, takeaways, offices, salons, and more.

This is your heads-up to take action before the deadline. You’ll need to:

  • Switch to a licensed commercial waste provider like GWR Waste Management
  • Choose bin sizes and collection schedules that suit your business needs
  • Make sure you’re ready for the Simpler Recycling rules coming in 2025
